 Amanda Millis Overcast Morning at Union Canal | Three Women, Three Views
JANUARY 7 - FEBRUARY 12 The show is landscape-based with three different approaches created in different locations at times of the year. Artists: A resident of Boston, Massachusetts, Amanda received her BA from Smith College and her MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. She taught at the ArtEst Art School in Sydney, Australia and has won several art residencies, including the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Mount Gretna School of Art. Born in Columbus, Ohio and an alumnus of the renowned Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in Madison, Maine, Jean received her BFA from Wright State University and MFA from the Parsons School of Art & Design. Jean's works are part of numerous permanent collections across the state of Ohio, including Kettering Hospital, the Governor's Residence in Columbus, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Ohio Supreme Court Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Michele received her BFA from Wright State University and was an artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont, the largest fine arts residency program in the United States. Her works have been exhibited across the nation, including the Prince Street and First Street Galleries in New York, the Brand Library in Glendale, California, and the Riffe Gallery in Columbus, Ohio.

| ReFreshMARCH 4 - APRIL 9 ReFRESH is the Dayton Society of Artists’ 2022 annual spring juried show. The call for art was open to all mediums, techniques, and styles. Work was encouraged to, but did not have to fit the theme, “refresh.” Dana Wiley received a Liberal Arts Degree from Sinclair Community College in 2014 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2016 from Wright State University. Since her graduation, she has been an active participate in the Dayton art community curating several exhibits in different venues in Dayton. She established the Dana L. Wiley Gallery in 2018 which focuses on both regional and national artists. During this time, she has created an annual fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter. Painter and drawer of detailed renderings, Dana has an affinity for both urban and rural landscapes, mostly in the medium of pastels and oils. She has shown her work in local venues like K12 Gallery and Front Street Co. Creating artwork in her studio is some of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of her life. Awards: |

| LITHO-LINO-MONO-MORE 2022MAY 6 - MAY 28 LITHO-LINO-MONO-MORE 2022 is the Dayton Society of Artist's 17th annual juried printmaking exhibition. The call for art was open to any printmaker living, working, or attending school in Ohio. This exhibition is sponsored in part by the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative. Although he grew up in a city, Micah’s fondest childhood memories are of countryside road trips with his grandparents. During these back-road adventures, he developed a love for the natural world, wondering about the rolling hills, forests, and nowheres that seemed so foreign compared to day-to-day life. En plein air landscapes and still life represent the breadth of his artistic pursuits over the last ten years. The landscape has motivated Micah to live a life more connected and concerned with the earth. A passionate gardener and animal lover, Micah hopes to have a farm one day where he can draw his plants and animals all day, every day. Tending and caring for the land and its critters is a passion born out of art-making. Micah Zavacky completed his BFA in Studio Art-Printmaking at Wright State University in 2014. He received a MFA in Printmaking from Illinois State University in 2017. Along with exhibiting nationally and internationally, Micah has curated several professional portfolio exchanges, exhibitions, and collaborative books. Also, he worked at Normal Editions Workshop (NEW) as a printing assistant from 2014-2017, finishing his time at NEW as lead printer on an Illinois State University faculty print project. Since 2014, he has remained an active member of the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative, and has been the Secretary since 2019. Micah has taught throughout the Dayton area, most notably at the University of Dayton from 2018-2021 as an adjunct instructor of printmaking, drawing, and color theory. Currently, Micah is an Upper School art teacher at the Miami Valley School in Dayton, OH. Awards: Kay Smith Award is the DSA's printmaking show was established by David Smith (a DSA past president and an instrumental figure in the gallery's history) in honor of his wife, Kay, a watercolorist and printmaker. | Emergence 2022JUNE 3 - JUNE 25 Emergence 2022 is the Dayton Society of Artist's emerging artist exhibition. The call for art is open to recent graduates (class of 2020, 2021, & 2022) and current students. Artists must be 18 years or older who live, work, or attend school within 40 miles of the gallery. Glenna Jennings is a passionate educator whose teaching, research and service inform her dynamic, transdisciplinary practice of image-making, curating and socially-engaged creation. Her work in the local community focuses on food justice and social equity through collaborations with partners including the member-owned grocery cooperative Gem City Market, Co-Op Dayton, Expressions of Life, Unified Power, The Collaboratory, and The Foodbank Dayton. Jennings’ work with the multidisciplinary event Dinner in the Desert Kitchen was recognized with a Montgomery County 2019 Food Champion award, and she is currently working with a team of local artists to complete a community mural at Gem City Market through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Glenna is indebted to friends, family and collaborators far and wide in her ongoing efforts to realize a more just, equitable and sustainable future through both hard work and purposeful play. Charles describes himself as a realist painter with an abstract style of brushstrokes with a focus on scenes from ordinary, everyday life. Among other means to enhance the beauty of the subject, exaggerated abstract brushstroke is employed to add more interesting elements to the painting. His website HERE. |

This year's show was juried by Elizabeth Wetterstroem, former DSA president and current Collections and Exhibitions Manager at the Springfield Museum of Art.  | EyewitnessSEPTEMBER 2 - OCTOBER 29 The Dayton Society of Artists (DSA) is pleased to present EYEWITNESS, a regional call for lens-based artwork. All artists, 18 years or older and living or working in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky were eligible for entry. Each piece must be lens-based (including but not limited to photography, computer edited photos, video, etc.) but may have other mediums or techniques incorporated into the work. Traditional and non-traditional approaches are welcome, and the medium may be interpreted broadly. Support for this exhibition is provided by FotoFocus. Exhibition Dates: Friday, September 2nd - Saturday, October 29th Debbie Le Clere – Graduate of University of Dayton majoring in Art Education and a minor in Photography - 1977. Debbie started her own business, Leclere Photography, a couple of years after graduation as a wedding and portrait photographer. She worked for Lesko Photography and Mark Garber Photography between 1991-1999. She went back to being self-employed in 2000 and retired in 2015. Her photography career spanned 36 years. For 4 years, Debbie was the official photographer for the President of Wright State University documenting all the events he participated in. Commercial photography jobs also came her way during my time of being self-employed. When Debbie retired, she also retired her camera equipment as well. She now totally enjoys taking pictures with her iPhone of nature, flowers, family and wherever she may travel to. Chris Snyder – I am one of two photographers at Wright State University. I’ve been a photographer for 30+ years and have been at Wright State for 22 years. There I manage the day-to-day operation of the marketing photography and video team. I help in scheduling photo and video shoots for our clients, shoot those photos and videos, edit together those videos, archive and maintain our database of tens of thousands of photos and videos, retouch and color correct those photos when they are requested for our marketing materials and/or for any other needs the Wright State community may have. I also do quite a bit of freelance photography where I provide photography services for publications including motor sports, cars and motorcycles, corporate and private events, and portraits. I provide additional services of retouching, image manipulation, printing, and color management for other local photographers and clients. Most of my freelance work consists of traveling with Fortune 500 companies that offer incentive trips to their associates. Those clients include Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, Citrix, Oracle, Legal Shield, Subaru, and the GE Board of Directors. My job is to document the trips by photographing speakers, business meetings, shooting portraits, dinner receptions, or any other activities planned for the attendees. These jobs always require some computer work such as retouching of portraits and making prints on site. This work has taken me all over the world including the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Awards: |
