    Call for Art: The Art of Q 2026 – LGBTQ+ Art Exhibition & Fundraiser

    PLEASE NOTE: This exhibition is presented by the Greater Dayton LGBT Center and will be hosted at the Greater Dayton LGBT Center, 24 N. Jefferson Street, Dayton, OH 45402. The Dayton Society of Artists is pleased to support this exhibition by sharing this opportunity with our community. This is not a Dayton Society of Artists exhibition.

    About the Exhibition

    The Greater Dayton LGBT Center invites LGBTQ+ artists and allies to participate in The Art of Q 2026, a community exhibition and fundraiser celebrating the creativity and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.

    Artists working in all media are encouraged to submit artwork that reflects identity, resilience, community, personal experience, or any subject that represents their current creative practice.

    This exhibition serves as a fundraiser benefiting the Greater Dayton LGBT Center and its ongoing mission to serve and support the LGBTQ+ community.

    All submitted artwork will be accepted and exhibited, provided it meets the exhibition requirements outlined below.

    ELIGIBILITY

    • Open to LGBTQ+ artists and allies.
    • Artists may submit up to six (6) works of art.
    • All media are welcome.

    ENTRY FEE

    SALES

    Artists will receive 80% of the sale price of each artwork sold. The remaining 20% will be donated to the Greater Dayton LGBT Center in support of its programs and services.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Artists may submit up to six (6) artworks.
    • Artwork must be professionally presented and ready for exhibition.
    • Please label the back of each artwork with:
      • Artist Name
      • Artwork Title
      • Medium
      • Dimensions
      • Price (or "Not for Sale")
    • Artists must complete and sign the exhibition entry form and honesty statement at the time of artwork drop-off.
    • By signing the honesty statement, artists certify that the submitted artwork is their original creation and does not infringe upon the copyrighted work of others.
    • The Greater Dayton LGBT Center reserves the right to decline artwork that differs significantly from the information provided, is not ready for exhibition, or does not meet the exhibition requirements.

    AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE

    By participating in this exhibition, artists acknowledge that they have read and agree to the exhibition guidelines. Submission of artwork confirms acceptance of the exhibition requirements and sales commission outlined above.

    Call for Art: Small but Mighty 2026

    SMALL BUT MIGHTY 2026: The Dayton Society of Artists (DSA) is pleased to present Small but Mighty 2026, our annual small works exhibition celebrating the power and impact of artwork on an intimate scale.

    Open to DSA members in good standing, the exhibition welcomes all mediums, techniques, and styles. Artists may submit up to three works, with each work measuring no larger than 12" x 12" for 2D work, including framing, or 12" x 12" x 12" for 3D work.

    The exhibition runs November 13, 2026–January 1, 2027, making it a great opportunity for visitors to purchase original artwork during the holiday season. All artwork submitted must be available for sale. Purchased artwork may be taken home at the time of sale, and participating artists may be contacted to provide an additional piece if their work sells.

    The Dayton Society of Artists will do its best to accept all eligible works submitted. Acceptance will depend on available gallery space and whether artwork meets the size, presentation, and eligibility requirements outlined in this call.

    Artwork left beyond the scheduled pick-up dates may be subject to a storage fee.

    ENTRY FEE

    $5 submission fee

    Artists must be current Dayton Society of Artists members in good standing through the duration of the exhibition.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Eligibility: Submissions are open to Dayton Society of Artists members in good standing. Membership must remain active through the duration of the exhibition. Not a member yet? Become a member at daytondsa.org/becomeamember.
    • Entries: Member artists may submit up to 3 pieces.
    • For Sale: All submitted artwork must be available for sale. NFS (Not For Sale) work will not be accepted.
    • Dimensions: All 2D artwork must be no larger than 12" x 12", including all framing and matting. All 3D artwork must be no larger than 12" x 12" x 12".
    • Presentation: Artwork must be professionally presented. 2D work must be ready to hang and wired on the back. D-rings for wiring are highly recommended. Sawtooth hangers, magnets, Command Strips, or other unapproved hanging methods will not be accepted. Works on paper must be framed.
    • 3D Work: Three-dimensional artwork must be pedestal-based and sturdy enough to sit safely on a pedestal without additional display hardware. If special hardware, cases, or other display materials are required, they must be provided by the artist and approved by DSA.
    • Labeling: Artwork must be labeled on the back with the artist's name, title, medium, contact phone number or email, and sale price.
    • Originality: Artwork must not have been previously exhibited at the Dayton Society of Artists.
    • Duration: Unsold artwork may not be removed before the close of the exhibition.
    • The Dayton Society of Artists reserves the right to reject work that does not meet the size, eligibility, safety, sales, or presentation requirements.

    SALES

    Small but Mighty is designed to encourage the purchase of original artwork during the holiday season. All artwork in the exhibition will be available for sale.

    Artwork purchased during the exhibition may be taken home by the purchaser at the time of sale.

    If a piece sells, the participating artist may be contacted and asked to provide another piece to help keep the exhibition full throughout its run. Replacement artwork must meet all Small but Mighty requirements and be available for sale.

    The Dayton Society of Artists will retain a 30% commission on all artwork sold. Artists should price their work accordingly.

    ART DELIVERY

    All artwork must arrive ready to install. Works that are not gallery-ready, do not meet the size requirements, or do not demonstrate appropriate presentation may be omitted from the exhibition.

    Artists are responsible for insuring artwork during transportation to and from the Dayton Society of Artists.

    Artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition unless purchased.

    LIABILITY

    Artists are responsible for insuring their work during delivery, installation, the exhibition period, and pickup. The Dayton Society of Artists is not liable for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond its control. Please note that the gallery does not have constant climate control.

    Reasonable safety and security precautions will be taken while artwork is on the premises.

    GALLERY DISCRETION

    The Dayton Society of Artists reserves the right to reject any submitted artwork at its discretion. This may include, but is not limited to, work that fails to meet eligibility, size, sales, or presentation requirements; is deemed unsafe or unstable; is not accurately represented in the submission; or is otherwise considered unsuitable for the exhibition.

    AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE

    Submitting artwork indicates that you agree to the conditions of entry and exhibition outlined in these guidelines and agree to make accepted work available for the duration of the exhibition unless the work is sold.

    The Dayton Society of Artists may use submitted images and images of exhibited artwork in print and/or digital marketing materials.

    Call for Art: Dayton Society of Artists Annual Members’ Show 2026

    PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A ONE-NIGHT POP-UP EXHIBITION HOSTED AT 118 N. JEFFERSON STREET

    The Dayton Society of Artists is pleased to announce its Annual Members’ Show, a special one-night pop-up exhibition celebrating the creativity, range, and talent of our artist membership.

    The exhibition will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at 118 N. Jefferson Street in conjunction with the Dayton Society of Artists Annual Members’ Meeting and Halloween Party.

    This year, we’re adding a light seasonal twist. Artists are welcome to submit work that is mysterious, strange, dark, playful, supernatural, autumnal—or not Halloween-related at all.

    The Halloween theme is completely optional.

    The Annual Members’ Show is first and foremost a celebration of Dayton Society of Artists members and their work. Artists working in all media and styles are encouraged to participate.

    SUBMITTING ARTWORK

    Artists may submit up to three artworks for consideration.

    ENTRY IS FREE

    Open to current Dayton Society of Artists members

    All media welcome

    No size restrictions within reason

    Artwork must be professionally presented and ready to install

    Artwork may be available for sale or listed as NFS

    Artwork Pick-Up

    Unsold artwork may be picked up immediately following the Annual Members’ Meeting at 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 29.

    An additional pick-up opportunity will be available on Friday, October 30. Specific times will be announced at a later date.

    ANNUAL MEMBERS’ MEETING + HALLOWEEN PARTY

    This year’s Annual Members’ Meeting will also include a Halloween party!

    Join us Thursday, October 29, from 6:00–8:00 PM as we celebrate our members, their artwork, and another year at the Dayton Society of Artists.

    Costumes are encouraged but completely optional. Come as you are—or come dressed for the occasion.

    A LITTLE HALLOWEEN SPIRIT

    Artists are welcome—but absolutely not required—to submit work that leans into the strange, mysterious, eerie, fantastical, macabre, magical, or unexpected.

    The Halloween element is intended to add a little fun to this year’s Members’ Show and Annual Members’ Meeting.

    Artwork does not need to be Halloween-themed.

    SALES & COMMISSION

    Artwork may be offered for sale during the exhibition.

    The Dayton Society of Artists will retain its standard commission on artwork sold through the exhibition.

    EXHIBITION PARTICIPATION

    The Dayton Society of Artists will make every effort to include all submitted artwork in this one-night Members’ Show.

    Because this is a pop-up exhibition and space is limited, the DSA Exhibition Committee reserves the right to make final decisions based on available space, installation requirements, and the safety of the artwork and venue.

    The Halloween theme is completely optional and will not be a factor in determining which artwork is included.

    AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE

    Submitting artwork indicates agreement with the conditions outlined in this call for art and grants permission for the Dayton Society of Artists to use submitted artwork images and exhibition documentation for promotional and marketing purposes related to the exhibition and the organization.
