The Dayton Society of Artists is pleased to present 2024/366 Picture of the Day Project, a solo exhibition by Edd McGatha. This exhibition runs concurrently with Part of a Whole 1/2: Annual Members Show, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a focused, year-long photographic project alongside the collective work of DSA member artists.

About the Work

In 2024—a leap year with 366 days—Edd committed to creating a photograph every single day. The only rule: the selected image had to be taken on the specific day it represents. What began as a simple framework evolved into a year-long discipline that resulted in more than 10,000 images and countless stories.

Working primarily in Tipp City and Dayton, with additional work captured during a trip to New York City, Edd navigated the challenges and discoveries of daily image-making. Some days required only a handful of exposures; others demanded 100–200 images to find the one that felt right. The photographs presented in this exhibition represent some of the artist’s most impactful and meaningful selections from the project.
