Historian Talk: Kathleen Caffrey
A Living Legacy: The Permanent Collection of the Dayton Society of Artists
Founded in 1938, the Dayton Society of Artists has played a central role in shaping the cultural landscape of the Miami Valley for more than eight decades. The organization’s permanent collection preserves this history through works by past and present members whose practices span generations, media, and artistic approaches.
In conjunction with A Living Legacy: The Permanent Collection of the Dayton Society of Artists, DSA Historian Kathleen Caffrey will present a public talk examining the collection as a living record of the organization’s evolution. Drawing from the exhibition, Caffrey will highlight key artists, works, and moments that reflect the Society’s long-standing commitment to supporting artists and sustaining an artist-led institution.
The talk offers historical context for the permanent collection and considers how stewardship, leadership, and artistic practice continue to shape the Dayton Society of Artists today.
