This session will cover a range of media and surfaces, focusing on how proper preparation ensures safe transport, handling, and display while preserving the longevity and integrity of the work. Through a mix of discussion and demonstration, we’ll explore:
-Matting, mounting, and framing techniques
-Frame design and selection
-Media-specific considerations and problem-solving
-Practical tips for damage prevention and preservation

About Dave Crowell
Dave Crowell is the owner of Custom Frame Services, Inc. He began working in the fine art industry as a frame maker in 1987 after receiving an Associate of Arts (Fine Art - Painter) from Sinclair Community College. He earned his certification with the Professional Picture Framers Association in 1990 and has also earned certificates for frame restoration from The Inter-Museum Laboratories in Oberlin, Ohio and Reed’s Gold Leaf in Nashville, Tennessee, along with many other related training exercises. He has pursued the care and treatment of fine art as a passion and profession, establishing Custom Frame Services in 1993. The sharing of this experience is a privilege that he enjoys.
