Julie Martin It Waits Just There, 48 x 24 in. Acrylic on Canvas $2,000 -- A fragmented self-portrait with a feeling that something is still to come. Whatever 'it' is, from achievement or acknowledgement it does seem to always be a bit at a distance. Not necessarily underwater, but reaching up at floating water lilies gives a sense of wanting and waiting. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother - often my artist journey takes a back seat to other responsibilities. Juggling creative projects with family life is a challenge, especially with traditional female roles in play. I wouldn’t have done things differently as some of those times were the best in my life and were my own decision, but recently I’ve been working on my own creative projects with a fulfilled purpose to kind of catch up to a perceived idea of what I’ve been missing. http://juliemartincreative.com
