Susan Carlson Crowned, 20 x 20 in. Acrylic on Canvas NFS -- In Crowned I, as a mother, signal my joy and approval of our daughter. She is her own woman, and a strong one. My joy is reflected in her triumphant crown, guardian horses and flowers. My portraits are reflections of growth and maturity as my daughter and I move through life. They direct the viewer to a straightforward examination of each of us as a mature woman. The symbols surrounding us are both feminine ideals of power at varying stages of growth and an affirmation of femininity as a positive force to guide us.
