Pumping Station Spiral
Early technology required to provide water to the city of Cincinnati, OH required massive water pumps powered by massive steam engines. These pumps drew water from the Ohio River. The pumping station holding these pumps and steam engines was huge, hundreds of feet tall. The bottom floor was below the level of the river. This spiral stairs was the only way to the bottom.
